Day #3

THURSDAY JULY 1, 2010

Today started out a little like yesterday--a slow start with some tired boys. Jared headed out to Jodi's orange tree and picked a few for fresh squeezed orange juice. The OJ didn't turn out quite as good as the lemonade as it was a little tart. We're thinking that the oranges needed to stay on the tree a little longer, but Jared gave it his best!

We headed out for lunch in Pasadena at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Yum! Good Stuff!! Jodi took Keith and I there when we were here in February and I couldn't wait to go back! It sounds like an odd combination, but it sure tastes good! The kids all devoured their food, as you can see! They ordered a waffle along with a chicken leg. My waffle came with a huge chicken breast. Keith is a little more skeptical and ordered his waffle with a chicken omelet. We were all full and happy when we left!

After we ate we drove down part of the Rose Bowl parade route. There are colored lines in the middle of the road so the float drivers know where they are suppose to be going. Since they can't see out in front of them, they look down and follow the lines painted on the road.

We also went and saw the Rose Bowl Stadium. We were able to drive up pretty close to the fence. The kids thought that was pretty cool! Now, next New Year's Day they can watch the parade and the game and picture it a little bit.

I am not at all sure what Trevor is doing here, but he seems to have Jodi in on his plan.

And when we got back....it was more Rock Band. Cale apparently needed a break, but Jodi was able to fill in. We're still looking for a singer that can carry a tune! (Mr. Accountant is in the back round entering all of our vacation receipts onto a spread sheet on his computer.)

That night we went to the baseball game between the Angels and the Texas Rangers. The stadium is really unique on the outside and the kids enjoyed looking around. There is also a baseball diamond made out of the bricks so they had a pretend game when we first got there. We couldn't spend a lot of time out there--we needed to get into the team store!

As you can see, we had some success in the team store with new caps for everyone. They were the bargain of the whole trip! They were only $6.50 each. We felt like we got off pretty cheap in that respect. (I know we won't get off that cheap in a few weeks when we go to St. Louis!
We loved the weather in California. Right about 6:30 you could feel the weather change and it got cool and we'd get our sweatshirts out. The Angels won the
game 2-1.
After the game had started, Jodi got a text from her friend, Kelli. Kelli's Dad runs the big screen during the Angels games. Kelli told us to watch the screen in the middle of the 4th. inning. Of coarse, the boys had to go to the bathroom during the top of the 4th, so we were lucky the inning went long. We were watching, and this is what we saw.........

Pretty cool, huh? Thanks Kelli! The boys thought that was pretty neat!!

  1. Oh my heavens! I about wet my pants when you mention Keith in the background entering receipts into a spreadsheet! I've got some in my billfold he could take care of :)
