Flashback Friday--Richard Petty Driving Experience

Five years ago today Keith and I went to Kansas City with his cousin Paul, and his wife, Kristy and the guys did the Richard Petty Driving Experience at the Kansas Speedway. Keith always wanted to do it, so I bought the opportunity for him at the school's fundraiser in April of that year so he could do it for his 40th. birthday.

I took this picture of Paul only because Kristy needed a few things from the trunk and had to have Paul dig through the trunk and get them out....one by one. I can't even begin to tell you how many times he had to get out and get something. At this point he was done, and he made it very clear that he would NOT be doing any more of this!

Keith getting some of the last minute instructions before they turned him loose on the track.

Paul and Keith....ready to go.

Paul....AKA "Lumpee".....enough said..... :)

All finished! The guys had a great time! Half of the fun for Kristy and I was to watch them. It was sort of like Christmas...they waited and waited for their turn and then it was over so fast! They were simply giddy and there was no hiding their excitement and that was fun to watch!

Kristy and I.

Now.....anyone that has either done a Richard Petty experience or watched someone else do it knows that once it is in their blood they just want to do it again. Paul and Keith are no exception! On the drive back from Kansas City that was their discussion....where should we go next??? And the next summer found them heading to Chicagoland Speedway to do it again.....
